Ceramic Coating at Urban Werks: Long-Term Protection, Real-World Performance

Why more Lancaster drivers are choosing ceramic coating over wax or sealant.

Ceramic coating isn’t a trend, it’s a solution. As vehicle technology evolves and paint systems shift toward softer, eco-conscious finishes, ceramic coatings are more relevant than ever. At Urban Werks, we install GYEON’s professional-grade coating systems for clients who want long-term durability without sacrificing appearance.

Whether you drive a performance SUV, a weekend cruiser, or a daily commuter, the surface of your vehicle is constantly exposed to UV rays, acidic contaminants, hard water, bird droppings, road salt, and more. Wax can’t handle it. Sealants fade. A ceramic coating gives your vehicle the protection it needs and the gloss you want.

What Ceramic Coating Does

A common misconception is that ceramic coating is just “a better wax.” It’s not. Ceramic coatings form a chemical bond with your vehicle’s clear coat, creating a hydrophobic, UV-resistant surface that repels contaminants and reduces the chance of damage over time. This isn’t a short-term aesthetic upgrade—it’s a long-term functional investment.

At Urban Werks, we use GYEON Q² Flash EVO and Q² Infinite, two of the most advanced systems available for professional application. These coatings enhance water behavior, resist etching and oxidation, and facilitate faster and safer washing. Once applied, the slick surface reduces drag from dirt and water, allowing you to spend less time cleaning and more time enjoying your car.

Importantly, the ceramic coating does not make your vehicle maintenance-free—it makes maintenance easier. Dirt doesn’t stick as aggressively. Drying is faster. Surface staining is minimized. For our clients, it’s about elevating the ownership experience, not chasing after showroom shine that fades the minute you drive away.

Our Coating Process: Built on Clean Surfaces and Proper Prep

Installing a ceramic coating begins well before the product comes into contact with paint. It starts with thorough preparation. Every vehicle undergoes a chemical decontamination wash using industry-specific solutions, such as GYEON Q²M Foam and Q²M Iron, along with a clay bar treatment. This ensures that nothing interferes with the bonding process.

Suppose the paint has visible imperfections or light swirling. In that case, we perform a paint correction to level the surface and improve clarity. Once the correction is complete, we use GYEON’s Q²M Prep and WaterSpot remover to strip away polish residue, oils, and surface tension issues that would prevent the coating from curing properly.

The application itself is done panel by panel, using a crosshatch technique for even coverage. We coat more than just paint—our packages include trim, wheel faces, and glass for full-surface functionality. After cure time and a final quality check in our light tunnel, the vehicle is delivered with a new level of protection that’s built to last.

Why Ceramic Coating Makes Sense Right Now

There’s never been a better time to coat your vehicle. Pennsylvania’s mixed climate (hot sun in the summer, salted roads in the winter) means vehicles are exposed to all types of environmental damage throughout the year. Coating now means fewer headaches later.

More of our clients are turning to ceramic coating as a preventive measure—not just for exotic cars, but also for daily drivers, SUVs, and even leased vehicles. The logic is simple: protect the surfaces early, maintain them easily, and preserve both aesthetics and value over time.

Whether it’s the 3-year GYEON Q² Flash EVO or the 5+ year GYEON Q² Infinite, our ceramic packages are designed to suit how you use your car. Real protection for real-world driving. That’s what we install every day at Urban Werks.
